I started these canvases back in Ireland with an initial oil wash. Lately I have been really inspired by decaying metal surfaces. Old vans, peeling signs and the like. These first washes try to imitate that texture. I love the ease of those initial layers.
From now on it will be a process of putting on and taking off paint which seems to get trickier with each round until that sweet moment when it resolves.
